We are pleased to announce that our website now features a new blog:
Back On Track: Northeast will follow our region's progress toward achieving a high-quality passenger rail service on the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The blog will provide regular news updates on federal and state policies affecting rail service, spotlight posts that outline key issues affecting the NEC, and valuable research on the need for and potential benefits of improved passenger rail service. The blog will also features key experts and special guests to share their views and highlight their own work toward improving our rail system.
Although Back On Track: Northeast will focus on supporting the implementation of a world-class high-speed rail service in the NEC, our advocacy goals reflect a broader understanding of the needs of the NEC and the Northeast Megaregion. Specifically, we seek to:
1. Achieve a State of Good Repair on the existing NEC;
2. Create the capacity to meet the growth needs of all NEC users, including intercity, commuter and freight railroads; and
3. Construct a world-class High-Speed Rail service on two, new dedicated tracks along the NEC.
In the coming weeks, Back On Track: Northeast will focus on making the case for investment in our rail system. We will feature a series of posts dedicated to the state of good repair needs on the NEC. We will also spend time highlighting key proposals for high-speed rail on the NEC and demonstrate the ways in which high-speed rail can transform our cities and the Northeast Megaregion.
Back On Track: Northeast is meant to serve as a space for advocates and supporters of improved rail service on the NEC to engage in a dialogue about the importance of rail and the need to invest in our transportation system. We encourage you to follow our posts and share your comments, ideas and content.
